Stainless steel means the steel contains more than 12% chrome

Most of the stainless steel has a similar amount of ferrous metal as that of other steel.

However, unlike other steel, stainless steel contains more than 12% chrome and it forms an oxide file o n the surface of the steel and therefore, prevents corrosion.

In case welding is executed in order to bond stainless steel panels, the carbon(C) and chrome (Cr) contained in the steel react to each other due to the welding heat (700¡ÆC) and they produce chrome carbon, which reduces rapidly the amount of chrome in the steel. When the chrome content decreases to below 12%, corrosion starts to occur
